Samantha Hanratty is giving an update on her pregnancy.

The Yellowjackets star, 29, who is currently pregnant with her first baby with husband Christian DeAnda, posted a video on her TikTok on Wednesday, Sept. 25, sharing that her baby boy will born with a cleft lip.

"I’ve been doing some updates on here and having a good time sharing these things with you and I thought I would share our latest update that our baby is going to have a cleft lip and a possible cleft palate," Hanratty said.

"And at first the news was obviously shocking because it doesn’t run in my family, it doesn’t run in my husband’s family," she continued. "And the biggest thing that we all want is that we want our kids to be happy and we want our kids to be healthy."

Hanratty went on to say that finding out her son will be going through several surgeries so soon after he is born was tough, but she's thankful to have found wonderful specialists to work with.

"It’s still scary to think that your precious little baby is going to be going under anesthesia and that there’s going to be difficulties," she explained.

"I am already preparing for the fact that I will not be able to nurse. I will be pumping and doing formula and it’s been emotional, but I think that both me and my husband are at peace with the fact that we know that he’s going to be okay."

According to the Mayo Clinic, cleft lip and cleft palate are “openings or splits in the upper lip, the roof of the mouth (palate) or both. Cleft lip and cleft palate result when facial structures that are developing in an unborn baby don’t close completely.”

The actress said that she and her husband are focusing on the fact that they have found great doctors and are lucky to have several family members in the medical field as well.

"This was just a little bit of a different journey than what we had expected," Hanratty said. "I’m not going to lie and pretend that this has been the easiest of news, but I’m also, like I said, just incredibly grateful for how fortunate we are."

"1 in 700 children are born with a cleft lip and/or palate and we’re praying that it’s just in the lip and not in palate, just because there’s more difficulties when it comes with closing things up and further surgeries," she went on. "We’re prepared for either way."

At the end of the video, Hanratty said that whenever she gets a little sad or scared, her son "kicks me and reminds me that he’s fine and that he’s going to be okay."

In August, the star announced the exciting news in an emotional Instagram video that she and her husband DeAnda are expecting their first baby together.

"Still in shock and its been 4 months!" she wrote beneath the video. "I will be sharing more from my journey because it has been a wild one! Come follow this new adventure ♥️♥️♥️."
