A preacher known as 'Ustaz Budak' has once again claimed trial to three counts of sexual crime charges at a Magistrate's Court in Machang and a Sessions Court in Kota Bharu today.
At the magistrate's court, Syamsul Zaman Sukri, 32 (above, in a pink T-shirt), who runs a madrasah (religious school) was charged under Section 377D of Penal Code for committing an act of gross indecency on a 22-year-old former male student at a house in Kampung Awah, Machang, in May 2018.
He is accused of holding and rubbing the private parts of the victim. If found guilty, the preacher is liable to two years' imprisonment.
The prosecution was handled by deputy public prosecutor Hajarul Falenna Abu Bakar before magistrate Amal Razim Alias while the accused was represented by Shaharuddin Mohamed. The court set bail at RM5,000 and fixed on Feb 1, 2021, for mention.
At the Sessions Court, Syamsul faced two charges of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy, who is also his former student.
Under the first charge, he is accused of holding the private parts of the boy at a house in Kampung Awah, Machang, at 10am on Aug 22, 2018.
Under the second charge, the preacher was accused of making the boy hold Syamsul's private parts at the same venue on the same day.
He was charged under Section 14(a) and Section 14(b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, read together under Section 16 of the same Act.
The provision provides for imprisonment of up to 20 years and whipping if found guilty.
Syamsul was granted bail at RM20,000 for both charges. The court set Jan 28 for the submission of documents.
On Dec 21, Syamsul was charged with committing gross indecency with a 30-year-old man.
