Joanna Gaines isn't the only home renovation star releasing a new children's book; Good Bones host Mina Starsiak Hawk just revealed that she wrote a children's book about embracing different kinds of families.
Mina, who has a baby girl and a son with her husband Steve, announced on Instagram that her debut children's book, Built Together, is currently available for pre-order on Amazon. In the post, Mina is holding up a photo of the book, which features an adorable illustration of a family of four (plus their pup) snacking on the steps of their house. Next to their picnic basket is a tool box. "It wouldn’t be me without that!" Mina said of the book's "cute construction fun." In the caption of the post, she also expressed her excitement for the debut of the book, which she's been working on for the past two years.
According to Mina, the message of the book is that there are "ALL kinds of families made in ALL different ways... and they’re all imperfectly perfect." The description of the book says that Mina drew on her own experiences of "starting Two Chicks and a Hammer with her mom, working with her stepfamily, fostering her niece, adopting her rescue dogs, and playing with her son" to write about how families are built as well as made. The book not only encourages readers to celebrate their own unique families, but also families that look different from theirs—whether adopted, divorced, blended, or single-parent.
Great for readers ages 4 through 8, Built Together is set to hit shelves on February 2. In the meantime, you can pre-order it here!
