Prasarana confirms Nizam axed as CEO

Prasarana Malaysia Bhd has confirmed that its board of directors had axed Muhammad Nizam Alias as chief executive officer (CEO).

The decision was made by the board on Feb 23 but was not publicly announced.

Norlia Noah will serve as acting president and group CEO effective from Feb 23.

"Prasarana shall no longer issue any comments or statement on the matter," the company said in a statement today.

Yesterday, Nizam said he was never informed of his then-rumoured termination, adding that he was unaware of any such board decision.

He was suspended from duties since Dec 9 due to alleged insubordination.

However, Nizam was widely believed to have been sanctioned after he and Prasarana chairperson Tajuddin Abdul Rahman were at loggerheads.

Tajuddin is the Pasir Salak MP and an Umno supreme council member.

In January, Tajuddin said a three-member panel was established to investigate allegations against Nizam.

Prasarana owns most public buses and all light rail services in the Klang Valley.
