Prague Zoo celebrates birth of baby orangutan

The thirty-one-year-old mother Mawar was seen holding its baby in her arms while eating and resting in the indoor enclosure of the zoo.

The baby is invaluable from a genetic perspective as it is the only great-grandchild of an orangutan imported to the zoo from forests in Sumatra, according to zoo director Miroslav Bobek.

It is the third orangutan born at the zoo in Prague.
