Power Line Explodes During Severe Texas Thunderstorm

A power line exploded in Tarrant County, Texas, during a severe thunderstorm on March 2.

Footage captured by Amy Cook shows the moment the line explodes in a white spark.

Amy Cook, a nightshift registered nurse, told Storyful that the wind picked up as she drove to work, kicking up debris on the road. She said she also saw torn-off roofs fly in the wind.

“The power lines were snapping, bursting into flames and exploding,” Cook said. “I started videotaping from my car since so many were exploding. It was shocking to say the least!”

Severe thunderstorms brought gusts of up to 80MPH in the area. Credit: Amy Cook via Storyful
