Polish forces in standoff with migrants at border

The video, filmed from the Polish side, showed hundreds of migrants gathered at the razor-wire fence near the Poland-Belarus crossing point.

On the other side of the fence, where the Polish guards were filming, more police were also seen arriving to join those who stood in lines around the crossing.

The Polish Defense Ministry said Monday (November 15) on its Twitter page they would "defend their borders", adding that Belarusian guards were bringing groups of migrants through the forest to the border.

Belarus denied it was driving the migrant crisis, which has left up to 4,000 people stranded in damp forests, calling those accusations "absurd".

Polish border guards reported 5,100 attempted irregular crossings from Belarus so far in November, compared to 120 in all of 2020.
