SINGAPORE — Police have arrested a 41-year-old man for suspected involvement in a series of thefts, and seized more than 2,500 female undergarments in his possession.

In a media release on Thursday (2 April), police said that they received a report on 15 March at around 3.30pm from a female victim, who said that her undergarments which were left outside her residential unit at Tampines Avenue 9 were stolen.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Bedok Division were able to establish the man’s identity, and arrested him on Wednesday.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is believed to be involved in a series of similar undergarment theft cases in Tampines, and more than 2,500 female undergarments found in his possession were seized.

The man will be charged on Friday with theft. The offence carries a jail term of up to three years and/or a fine.
