SINGAPORE — Two men were detained following a police pursuit on Thursday morning (27 October), after a Traffic Police (TP) officer was allegedly hit by a driver who was reversing his car.

In response to queries by Yahoo News Singapore, the police said that TP officers were patrolling the vicinity of Upper Paya Lebar Road at about 9.50am, when they signalled for a driver to stop his vehicle along the roadside to conduct a check.

The driver sped off instead, prompting officers to give chase. The pursuit came to a halt when a TP officer moved forward and managed to stop the vehicle.

However, the vehicle suddenly reversed and allegedly hit another officer who was positioned behind the said vehicle before speeding off. The officer sustained minor injuries.

A 34-year-old male passenger was detained and arrested for using criminal force against a public servant, as well as suspected drug-related offences.

The 37-year-old male driver, who had fled on foot, was subsequently detained after a manhunt. Police investigations are ongoing.
