Police and Protesters Clash in Fourth Night of Unrest on Barcelona Streets

Protesters and police clashed for the fourth consecutive night in Barcelona and other Catalonian cities on October 17-18.

There were running skirmishes involving riot gear-equipped police as fires burned on the streets around the city centre. It followed a reported 80 injuries and 33 arrests during Wednesday night’s unrest.

The pro-Catalan protests began demonstrations on Monday when the Spanish supreme court jailed several independence leaders on charges of sedition.
