Police Officer Rescues Labradors From Icy Pond

A police officer rescued two Labradors who were stuck in an icy pond at a park in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on Sunday, January 28.

The Fort Wayne Police Department posted this footage to YouTube with a caption explaining that they received a 911 call from a concerned resident near Ivan Lebamoff Reservoir Park.

According to the caption, “The current air temperature was approximately 34 degrees Fahrenheit and the rain had begun to turn into a wet snow”

Officer Trent Hullinger was near the park and responded to the call.

“Officer Hullinger located two black Labs that had fallen through the ice in the northeast part of the reservoir,” the caption said. “Both dogs appeared to be unable to get themselves out of the water as their heads and front paws were clinging to the concrete edging surrounding the water.”

Officer Hullinger hoisted each dog out of the cold water and to safety. The Labs have been turned over to Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control “with hopes of reuniting the dogs with their owner or finding them a new home,” police said. Credit: Fort Wayne Police Department via Storyful
