Moscow police “selectively detained” people outside a metro station near the Moscow City Court on February 2, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported, ahead of Alexei Navalny’s hearing.
The hearing was to consider a motion by the federal prison authority to replace a controversial 2014 suspended sentence handed to Alexei Navalny with a jail term.
Allies of Navalny called on his supporters to gather outside the court on Tuesday morning, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported.
More than 5,000 demonstrators were arrested across Russia on January 31, as they took to the streets to call for Navalny’s release, according to the human-rights watchdog OVDInfo.org. Credit: Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty via Storyful
