Police take on crowds in Belgian city after BLM march

A large group of people were gathered in the square in the Belgian city following the demonstration on racial inequality when police arrived to the scene, equipped with riot shields and water cannon.

Some individuals in the crowd could be seen throwing projectiles at police vans as they arrived in the square.

Local media reported that groups of young people had broken off from a peaceful Black Lives Matter march which took place earlier in the day and had gone on to cause damage to shops and buildings in the centre of town.
