Police fired tear gas, rubber bullets and water cannon at anti-government protesters in Bangkok on Saturday, March 20, according to local media and reports from the scene.
Footage shared by journalist Inkaew Opanukrawkul shows police with riot shields at the Phra Pin-klao Bridge near the Grand Palace on Saturday night.
Protesters, including the anti-government group REDEM, marched to call for monarchy reform and the release of pro-democracy activists from Bangkok Remand prison, where they were denied bail.
A trial against anti-government protest leaders started earlier in the week, charging Thai activists with sedition and criticizing the monarchy, which is illegal. Credit: Inkaew Opanukrawkul via Storyful
