Police Say Bag of Drugs Intended for Prison Grounds Dropped From Drone Into Schoolyard

Police in Virginia said a package containing marijuana, tobacco, and cell phones, and intended for the grounds of a prison, was dropped into an adjacent schoolyard in Lawrenceville on September 13.

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office said the drop was made at around 5:40 am, citing an employee at the Brunswick Academy who said they saw a drone landing in the school grounds around that time, and a small dark-colored sedan collecting it shortly after.

The sheriff’s office posted these images to Facebook, saying it was “obviously apparent that the package was intended to be dropped at the adjacent property of the Lawrenceville Correctional Center.” Credit: Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office via Storyful
