Police Make Arrests as Riot Declared in Portland

Police in Portland, Oregon, declared a riot on November 4 amid reports windows were being smashed in a downtown area.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said Gov Kate Brown had “activated the use of the Oregon National Guard to assist local law enforcement in responding to any acts of violence, and to maintain public order and ensure community safety.” The sheriff’s office said projectiles and bottles were thrown at police.

At least 10 people were arrested, the sheriff’s office said. “Officers recovered multiple firearms, ammunition, a knife, commercial and consumer grade fireworks, body armor and gas masks from arrested individuals,” they said. Credit: Independent Media PDX via Storyful
