Pokemon Centre Japan recalls defective Magnemite plushies
Pokemon Centres and Pokemon Stores sell a wide array of Pokemon goods, from stationery to wearables to keychains and plushies. Among the plushies sold, one of the latest and most popular is the Pokemon Fit series, which started in 2018. However, recently, there was a manufacturing error in one of the Pokemon plushies, causing it to become rarer than a legendary Pokemon.
The defect occurred in a Magnemite plushie that was on sale from 15 July 2020 to 15 January 2021. At first glance, the Magnemite looks normal. But the glaring mistake cannot escape the sharp eyes of Pokemon fans: the magnet on the left of Magnemite’s body should be tipped with blue on top and red at the bottom, instead of the other way round!
Although customers who bought the defective plushie can exchange it for the correct version either in stores or online through the Pokemon Customer Support Center, Pokemon fans seem to have a different take about this “error”.
One fan explained, “It will become rare because it’s being recalled.” Another agreed, “On the contrary, I will keep it as a rare item and not exchange it.” Others chimed in: “As the faulty Magnemite is cute, I will love it as it is.” “I want the faulty Magnemite!”
Japanese Twitter user @maisarypoke, who bought a faulty Magnemite, said, “It’s impossible to part ways, so I bought another one!”
The Pokemon Fit series now features Pokemon from the first two generations. Who knows if we will ever come across another manufacturing error? It is probably a good idea to keep the faulty Magnemite as it is — a daily reminder that no one is perfect!
