A large aggregation of manatees was spotted off the coast of Tampa Bay near St Petersburg, Florida, aerial footage shows.
Video shared by wildlife YouTube channel See Through Canoe shows dolphins swimming into the gathering and mingling with more than one hundred manatees near Tampa Bay.
“They gather in large numbers at a few different places in the bay to stay warm in cold weather, just like they do in Crystal River,” the channel wrote in a caption. “On most days there are dolphins in these areas too.”
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the state’s manatee population has grown to a minimum of 7,520 in recent years, allowing the species to be reclassified from endangered to a threatened status. Credit: See Through Canoe via Storyful
