KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 — Seeking to prove naysayers wrong, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he will visit the Tanjung Malim Automotive High-Tech Valley site with representatives of Chinese automobile manufacturer Geely.

The purpose will be to execute and add on various other big scale projects at the automotive high-tech valley, he said in the Dewan Rakyat today.

“This in itself justifies that the allegations that announcements are made but not necessarily carried out, in this case it is being materialised.

“At the same time, Elon Musk has given the assurance that the headquarters in Cyberjaya is expected to be completed by the end of this month,” Anwar said during the Prime Minister’s Question Time.

He was referring to Musk’s planned Malaysia headquarters for Tesla in Cyberjaya.

Anwar was responding to PKR’s Gopeng MP Tan Kar Hing who asked the prime minister to state the investments that were brought in through his work visits up until now.

“In New York, potential investments are worth up to RM47 billion, including additional investments from Boeing — as we know Boeing and Airbus has made it a point for aircraft components to be made in Malaysia, in Negeri Sembilan,” Anwar said.

He added that there were also Malaysian investments by Google and Medtronic.

In his official trip to New York last month, Anwar visited four giant multinational companies namely Google, Boeing, Medtronic and Siemens Healthineers.

Anwar, who is also the finance minister, said in a statement that these companies had expressed their desire to expand their operations and business in Malaysia.

He also had meetings with 15 Fortune 500 companies based in the US during that trip, among them were Airbnb, Amazon, Amazon Web Services, ConocoPhillips and Kimberley-Clark.
