JOHOR BARU, Sept 3 — Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar granted an audience to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Istana Bukit Pelangi here today.

Sultan Ibrahim was accompanied by Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Ibrahim, also known by his Malay acronym TMJ, for the meeting.

Anwar arrived in Istana Bukit Pelangi at 11.20am for the hour-long meeting.

He later continued on his one-day working visit to Johor Baru and later Muar.

Today’s meeting was initially scheduled for August 25 when Anwar was on a one-day official visit to Johor. However, the meeting was postponed.

Both Sultan Ibrahim and Anwar enjoy close ties and have been known to discuss about the country’s development.

This is the third time that the prime minister has been granted an official audience with Sultan Ibrahim since he took office in November last year.
