It has now been a week since the global launch of the open-world adventure MMORPG Tower of Fantasy (ToF) on 10 August.

With millions of eager players worldwide flocking to its servers, some have inevitably stumbled upon interesting bugs in the game.

While some seem cool or entertaining discoveries, others could be annoying.

ToF devs have forewarned players of these "shortcomings" in a statement on the day of the game's release.

"We would like to say that we are well aware that Tower of Fantasy still has many shortcomings," the statement said.

The dev team said these "may be unavoidable after the official launch" but will "will work hard to improve them".

Here are some of the weirdest bugs that players have found in the game so far:

Falling or clipping through the map

Reddit user Monsterandy shared what their character went through while retrieving a box.

When you're in Astra, you might climb up a ledge to retrieve a treasure box. As you step onto that ledge, your character would fall through the platform and even through the map. You'll land onto a pool with all of Astra overhead. Depending on your perspective, it can be a beautiful sight to see for the first time.

While pretty inconvenient, I used to love finding these bugs in a game. It feels like you're let in on a secret, and you suddenly have a hideaway. That is until you realise that all you can do is walk around, or in this case, swim or wade around.

There are various other areas on the map that you can clip through, like the mountains, and end up in a totally different region. You can get out of the area you might be stuck in by teleporting into a random area.

Turning into a giant character

Some players like Redditor httqd suddenly found that their character grew more than 10 times bigger than the normal size.

Unfortunately, that doesn't come with extra power. So while your character might look cool swinging around their weapon, they're dealing the same damage as they do when they're normal-sized.

It's unknown yet how players get to trigger or encounter this bug, only that it suddenly happens.

Redditor httqd mentioned that the bug resolved as soon as they teleported elsewhere.

2D flat Paper Doll character

In another animation scaling-related bug, Twitch streamer SivHD was able to stream this bizarre bug that turned his character into a flat 2D character, kind of like a paper doll, except that we can only see the player's profile.

At one point, we can only see a vertical line moving at the centre of the screen and even nearly disappear once their character starts running.

SivHD demonstrated that certain bugged relics do this until your character is so flat that you can barely see them.

We don't also know how this exactly works, but it seems like it's an animation bug related to scaling once again, or perhaps through smear animation.

In 2D mode, his character can approach enemies unnoticed.

"See that archer? He doesn't see me," SivHD said as he tried to approach a bunch of enemies on the map with his 2D form.

In any case, whatever the reason or the benefit is, the glitch is just hilarious to watch.

Polygon-shaped heads

In yet another animation bug, the head of the main character turns into this bizarre polygon-like shape, as seen in a clip was shared by Redditor _Stolik_.

In the clip, it initially looks like their character's head just transformed and had a weird 3/4ths diamond-shaped oversized hat.

Still, as the character runs around, people would discover that the shape has completely taken over the character's head!

As amusing as it is, the 2D glitch feels like you've been dropped into this weird, surreal nightmare.

Ene's flying bug (or secret skill)

Not all bugs are annoying.

Redditor Introduction_Odd has encountered a useful exploration bug (or secret skill) from one of the game's characters, Ene.

He can fly very long distances by spinning his hammer vertically without using up mana. We're not entirely sure if this is a bug or a secret skill, but the move is hard to reproduce.

There were other bugs players have reported like blue screen crashes, login errors, and freezing frames, but ToF devs said they were committed to "try our best to notify you, resolve it, and provide compensation as soon as possible".

The login errors and crashes were addressed almost immediately, with the ToF team compensating those affected.

It looks like Hotta's devs still have a lot to fix in ToF while players continue to enjoy the newly released game.
