Three Major League Baseball games were postponed on Wednesday, August 26, as players in several US sports downed tools in the wake of the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin.
Games between the Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers, the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants, and the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres were called off.

The protest began with the Milwaukee Bucks refusing to play their NBA playoff game against the Orlando Magic.
Soon after, the NBA postponed Wednesday’s other playoff games.
Twelve MLB games went ahead on Wednesday. A fourth game, between the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Angels, was called off due to Hurricane Laura.
The MLB issued a statement supporting players’ decisions.
“Given the pain in the communities of Wisconsin and beyond following the shooting of Jacob Blake, we respect the decisions of a number of players not to play tonight," MLB said. "Major League Baseball remains united for change in our society and we will be allies in the fight to end racism and injustice.”
