Plankton Movie, Motel Transylvania Series and More Animated Projects Announced at Netflix — First Looks

Netflix on Thursday announced several new animated projects rolling out in the next year, some of which feature iconic IPs as you’ve never seen them before.

One of the biggest projects announced was 2025’s Plankton: The Movie, a standalone vehicle for the beloved SpongeBob SquarePants villain. “Plankton’s world is flipped upside down when his plan for world domination is thwarted,” reads the official synopsis, which means it really just sounds like another weekday for Mr. Krabs’ arch nemesis. Netflix also shared more first-look stills from Saving Bikini Botton: The Sandy Cheeks Movie, streaming Aug. 2, 2024.

Another big announcement was 2025’s Motel Transylvania, a new series based on the Hotel Transylvania movies. “Drac and Mavis take a break from their Transylvanian haunts to set up a brand new resort for humans and monsters in the California desert,” Netflix teases, adding, “vampires and sunshine … what can go wrong!?”

And how about some intel on two of stop-motion animation’s all-time greats? The titular duo will be back this winter for Wallace & Gromit: A Murder Most Fowl. As suggested by its not-so-subtle title, the film features the long-overdue return of villainous penguin Feathers McGraw.

Netflix also broke the news that Jurassic Park: Chaos Theory will return this fall for a second season, sharing several new images to sweeten the reveal. And although we didn’t get a sneak peek at the action, it was announced that Timothy Olyphant will lend his voice to Netflix’s anime series Terminator Zero, which premieres on Aug. 29.
