PKR retracts statement on getting letter from Selangor palace

PKR has confirmed that it has received an answer from the palace regarding the appointment of the new Selangor menteri besar earlier this evening.

Its secretary-general, Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, said in a statement that the place had also confirmed that it received a letter sent by Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, along with the 30 statutory declarations signed by members of state assembly declaring their support for her.

But, the statement was retracted minutes after it was distributed.

"The statement has not been checked yet," said PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil when contacted by The Malaysian Insider.

In the statement, PKR expressed its appreciation towards the palace for acknowledging that it had received the letter naming Dr Wan Azizah as the Sekangor MB candidate.

PKR is expected to release a new statement soon.

Meanwhile, embattled Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim called on all parties to be patient in waiting for a reply from the palace about the Selangor MB candidate, which was submitted by PKR, PAS and DAP.

Khalid said he was informed that all three parties had sent their choice of candidate to the Sultan of Selangor by today as was instructed by the Palace.

"I believe that the next process will be done soon and the Palace will give a reply.

"Until that, all state administration will continue on as usual under the state executive council.

"I hope that everyone is patient in allowing the process to be done according to the state constitution," he said after chairing an exco meeting in Shah Alam today. – September 3, 2014.
