PJ police chief: Zayn Rayyan’s grandparents to be released on bail today

PETALING JAYA, June 13 — The grandparents of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, who were detained yesterday to assist with investigations into the autistic child’s murder, will be released on police bail today.

Petaling Jaya District police chief ACP Shahrulnizam Jaafar confirmed this when contacted by national news agency Bernama.

“They were only detained for 24 hours for questioning and will be released today. The release will take place at the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters. They will not be taken to court,” he said.

Yesterday, Bernama reported that the couple was detained by D9 officers from the Selangor Police Headquarters at 2:30pm at their residence in Puncak Alam to assist with the investigation into Zayn Rayyan’s murder.

The couple was arrested after attending the recording of the mother’s confession at the Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s Court at 2:30pm yesterday.
