The broadcaster spoke out in response to a clip from satirical news programme The Daily Show, in which host Trevor Noah claimed there were people saying "Indians are going to take over Great Britain" after Sunak got the role.
The clip – entitled "Unpacking the backlash against new UK PM Rishi Sunak" – showed Noah saying that "seeing the backlash is one of the more telling things about how people view the role that they or their people have played in history".
"Why are you so afraid?" he asked. "I think it's because the quiet part a lot of people don't realise they are saying is, 'We don't want these people who were previously oppressed to get into power because then they may do to us what we did to them'."
There’s been no such backlash against Sunak, you race-baiting twerps.
Why does US media keep falsely portraying Britain as a racist country? https://t.co/oXQcZQxlE3

However, his remarks have been slammed on social media, with Morgan among those to weigh in.
"There’s been no such backlash against Sunak, you race-baiting twerps," he posted on Twitter.
"Why does US media keep falsely portraying Britain as a racist country?"
Plenty of other people agreed, saying that the so-called racist backlash had been invented.
One tweeted: "There’s been virtually no backlash to the appointment of an Indian man as PM in Britain (other than the fact the process was an undemocratic joke). But his race hasn’t been brought up in the negative by anyone.
"American TV and American audiences do an awful lot of projecting."
Another said it was "absolute rubbish".
One person tweeted that "nobody cares that he’s Indian here in the UK", adding: "We just want a good PM man, woman or race doesn’t matter."
"The UK is PROUD of their new Prime Minister," tweeted someone else.
Yahoo has contacted representatives for Noah for comment.
