Pierce Brosnan Looks Ahead to 'Brand New Day' After Turning 71: 'Where Does the Time Go?'

Pierce Brosnan is reflecting on his recent birthday.

After the actor celebrated his 71st birthday on May 16, Brosnan took to Instagram to thank fans for wishing him well. "Brand new day. Thank you one and all for your rewarding words of celebration for my work and my seventy first birthday last week," he wrote.

"Where does the time go these days? It goes with the speed of flame," added the star. "Love life, kindness and precious time be with us all. Peace."

Brosnan's wife Keely Shaye Brosnan shared a throwback photo of Pierce as she celebrated him on his birthday.

"Happy Birthday to the love of my life @piercebrosnanofficial," Keely, whom Brosnan has been married to since 2001, wrote alongside the photo. "You are my rock, my anchor, my everything … and I love you endlessly."

Brosnan appeared in three movies in 2023 as he marked his 70th birthday, including the Netflix action-comedy The Out-Laws, the thrillerFast Charlie and a drama, The Last Rifleman. The Mamma Mia! star's next release includes HBO's The Great Lillian Hall, out May 31, and Four Letters of Love, also expected in 2024.

In April, Brosnan was seen on the Yorkshire, England, set of the upcoming sports drama Giant in character as Prince Naseem Hamed's trainer, Brendan Ingle. Brosnan wore thin white hair and glasses for the part. The boxing-centric film centers around the life and career of boxer Hamed, 50, a five-time featherweight world champion and International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee.
