'Pickles' the Porcupine Released in Maine After Winter Stay at Wildlife Center

A porcupine named Pickles was released back into the wilds of Maine on April 3 after spending winter being treated at Saco River Wildlife Center in Limington for what was described as a “severe case of ringworm and secondary infection.”

Pickles was the first over-winter patient to be released in 2021, according to the wildlife center.

Posting the video on Facebook, staff at the center described the release as a “beautiful moment where we see the countless hours of hard work by our dedicated volunteers pay off AND where we see Pickles speed away into his natural environment!” Credit: Saco River Wildlife Center via Storyful
