Pia Wurtzbach starts her own fundraiser to provide face masks

30 Mar – Following the footsteps of her fellow colleagues like Bela Padilla, Angel Locsin, and Anne Curtis, Pia Wurtzbach recently revealed that she has also started on her own charity project to help combat the coronavirus.

On 29 March, the beauty queen-turned-actress shared on Instagram that she has thought of starting a campaign to provide medical-grade face masks for the frontliners.

She wrote, "I'm very grateful that I am able to stay at home... but it got me wondering... what can I do to help? How do I make myself useful at this time? So I decided to just try something. I tried looking for suppliers myself, starting with medical masks. And I found a few. I placed an order of 5,000 masks to be donated to our frontliners and I received them the next day. It made me realize, if you really want to, there's a way."

However, Wurtzbach said that she knew she can do more than that, and decided to start an online fundraising to provide 25,000 medical masks to frontliners in different hospitals around Metro Manila.

"I know this may not sound like a lot, but it's a start. Minimum orders start at the thousands now. But if we work together and donate even small amounts, add that up, we can get more supplies (ordering in bulk is also cheaper) and we'll be able to help more people... So I am humbly asking for your help. Please help us so we can help them further. If you can, please donate," she added.

Details about the donation can be found on the actress' Instagram profile.
