A photographer filmed himself driving through the deadly CZU Lightning Complex Fire as flames burnt trees surrounding his vehicle.
Matthew Smith, who filmed the video, said his vehicle had not been seriously damaged despite driving through the blaze for more than a mile.
The CZU Lightning Complex Fire had burned 78,000 acres and was 13 percent contained as of August 24, according to California’s Department of Forestry and Fire Protection website.
The department stated that the fire claimed one person’s life and damaged 12 structures. Evacuation orders were issued for several counties and approximately 77,000 people have been evacuated from their homes. Credit: Matthew Smith via Storyful
