Phillip Schofield – latest: Former This Morning host axed as Prince’s Trust ambassador after affair furore
Phillip Schofield has been “removed from the Prince’s Trust website” as an ambassador in the wake of his This Morning scandal.
This development comes after Eamonn Holmes continued to weigh in on the controversy, hitting out at disgraced former host Schofield as well as his former co-star, Holly Willoughby, and broadcaster ITV.
Holmes, who used to present the daytime show himself with wife Ruth Langsford, appeared in a GB News interview on Monday 29 May, during which he made a number of allegations about the supposed “toxic” atmosphere on the current iteration of the programme.
“I don’t think you will ever see Holly Willoughby back on the couch,” he claimed to interviewer Dan Wootton.
The Independent has contacted ITV and Willoughby’s representatives for comment.
The 42-year-old is currently on holiday and scheduled to return to This Morning on Monday 5 June.
Friday presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary are hosting in place of her and Schofield, who quit ITV altogether last week after admitting he lied about his “unwise” but “not illegal” affair with a younger colleague.
In a statement issued last week, Willoughby said that learning Schofield had lied to her about the affair had been “hurtful”.
On Monday (29 May), Schofield shared an Instagram post hitting back at the “handful of people with a grudge against me or the show”.

The British TV world has been rocked by Phillip Schofield’s departure from ITV, the broadcaster he has worked at for more than two decades.
Schofield, who presented the ITV daytime show This Morning with Holly Willoughby, announced his departure from the series earlier this month amid reports of a behind-the-scenes “feud” between him and Willoughby.

Ed Balls has said people in power who work with young people must take ‘extra responsibility'
Monday 29 May 2023 14:30 , Annabel Nugent
Speaking on Monday’s episode (29 May) of Good Morning Britain, Ed Balls said: “There are certain professions, politics is one, television the same, where very powerful people work with young people all the time in a very intensive way. But that means an extra responsibility.”
Ed added: “And our society’s changed, even compared to when I was in politics. Now politics is dealing with scandals and the abuse of power in the workplace which were never even talked about [before].”
According to the latest report by The Mail on Sunday, Schofield’s former colleague was allegedly just 15 when they met at a talk the TV presenter was giving at a theatre school, while Schofield was in his late forties. Lawyers representing Schofield confirmed to the Evening Standard that he met the boy when he was 15, but said the affair began after he started working at ITV, after he turned 18.
What did Nadine Dorries say about the scandal?
Monday 29 May 2023 14:15 , Annabel Nugent
Speaking to the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg, Nadine Dorries said: “The fact that [Schofield] has made a rather grovelling apology to the Daily Mail in the form of an email... There seems to be this understanding that that’s it now and everything will move on and that’s not the case I’m afraid.”
“What it actually does is open up more questions as to what happened,” she continued. “We know that there were complaints lodged to ITV over a long period of time. What happened to those complaints? I think the editor of the programme, Martin Frizell, has some questions to answer himself.”
She added: “And I’m afraid so does Holly Willoughby. How did that young boy, so young, get a job at ITV? What were the processes involved? What was the safeguarding in place for someone so young at that age? What contact was first made? Who contacted who?”
