Peruvian mothers protest for better quality milk

STORY: "We don't want fresh milk but milk in a jar because many people live in extreme poverty, and they don't have a refrigerator; I don't know where they are going to store it; it will spoil (if not kept refrigerated)," said Maria Cervantes member of the glass of milk program.

The program is a social initiative designed to help disadvantaged communities overcome food insecurity by delivering a daily food ration.

Mother of the Glass of Milk program, Esperanza Aguilar said:

“(The glass of milk program) has remained with the same budget for 20 years, so we want the budget for children to increase because the population grows; each time the population of children increases and we continue with the same budget, we want them (the congress) to attend to us and remember the vulnerable people, children more than anything.”
