Person Flies Kite as Hurricane Ida Lashes New Orleans

A person in Kenner, Louisiana, took advantage of powerful winds whipped up by Hurricane Ida as they flew a kite during the storm on August 29.

Jessica Chateau filmed a video that shows a person flying a kite as the winds and rain lash her neighborhood. Chateau said they stopped playing after a few minutes as the winds became worse.

Hurricane Ida carried winds of up 145 mph, or 235 km/h as it made landfall on Sunday. The Associated Press reported on September 1 that the hurricane left almost one million people without power and thousands of people lacking running water. Credit: Jessica Chateau via Storyful
