Person dies after being hit by train in south London
A person has died after being hit by a train in south London.
All lines between East Croydon and Clapham Junction were blocked on Thursday afternoon due to the incident.
The Gatwick Express posted on X shortly before 3pm: “It is with great sadness that we report a person has been hit by a train between East Croydon and Clapham Junction.
“All lines are blocked between these stations whilst the emergency services work to deal with this incident.”
All lines were later reopened, but there were hour-long delays and cancellations.
National Rail explained that all stations had also reopened, adding that it was working to get trains back on schedule.
But, journeys between London Victoria and East Croydon as well as London Bridge and Streatham were still being affected at around 6pm on Thursday.
The British Transport Police and London Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
