A stationary storm system brought heavy rain to the Dominican Republic over the February 29-March 1 weekend, causing rivers to overflow and flood residential areas, local media reported.
La Oficina Nacional de Meteorología (ONAMET) measured Saturday’s highest rainfall at the Puerto Plata Airport at approximately 2.76 inches (70.1 mm). The rain continued through Monday, and the ONAMET warned of possible flooding, landslides, and overflowing rivers and streams.
