KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 1 — Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin has announced that Perikatan Nasional (PN) will hold a two-day retreat for its members of Parliament from today.

Hamzah, who is also PN secretary-general, said the retreat was to ensure all coalition MPs are ready for the next parliamentary session which will commence on February 13.

“This is part of Perikatan Nasional’s commitment to be a credible, mature, effective and principled Opposition that champions the voice of the people and acts as a powerful check and balance on the government.

“Good luck to all Perikatan Nasional members of Parliament,” he said in a Facebook post today.

PN, consisted of PAS, Bersatu and Gerakan, won 74 seats in the general election in November, making it the second largest coalition after Pakatan Harapan (PH).

However, coalition chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and deputy Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang rejected the offer to join the unity government, after insisting they had the numbers to form a government on election night.
