'People Want Their Maccas': New Zealanders Race for Fast Food After COVID-19 Lockdown Eased

Long lines of cars were seen at McDonald’s drive-thrus as New Zealanders got their first taste of fast food in five weeks after COVID-19 restrictions were downgraded on April 28.

Fast food outlets across New Zealand were allowed to reopen for contactless drive-thru and delivery services as the nation moved from level 4 to level 3 of its lockdown measures.

“People want their Maccas,” Tim Smit can be heard saying in the background of this video, which shows a long line of cars outside a Christchurch McDonald’s outlet.
