People in the Turkish border town of Akçakale came out to watch as a Turkish military convoy traveled towards Tap Abyed, just over the border with Syria, on October 10, the second day of an offensive on Kurdish-held areas of northern Syria.
Turkish forces carried out strikes against Kurdish positions that day, according to Kurdish news outlet Rudaw. Another Kurdish outlet, ANHA, reported that power and water stations in Tal Abyad were struck.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Turkish forces captured the town of al-Darbasiyah, about 80 miles east of Tal Abyad, following fighting against the majority-Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Credit: Rami al-Dahash via Storyful
