Penny Lancaster joins police frontline in 4am shift

Penny Lancaster was spotted out on the beat as a special constable over the weekend as she shrugged off her luxury lifestyle to serve her community until 4am.

The model and TV star who is married to Rod Stewart trained as a special constable after taking part in a TV show about the police, Famous and Fighting Crime, in 2019 where she said she'd found her life's true calling.

Loose Women star Lancaster, 50, has spoken often about fulfilling her dream of joining the force, but proved there was no special treatment for celebrities as she completed a weekend night shift that went on until 4am.

Mum-of-two Lancaster, who enjoyed a day out on a canal boat with multimillionaire singer husband Stewart earlier in the day, donned her uniform and kept her energy up with a supermarket meal deal along with her officer colleagues during the night shift.

She had previously told Gabby Logan's podcast The Mid Point of her police beat: "We look after the bridges. I think a lot of people because of the pandemic have been thinking of taking their life, sadly.

"At one point, it was every day there was someone that was jumping. A lot of the tasks we were given was to man the bridges.

"We would be walking up and down the bridges."

She went on to share some heartbreaking tales of the people she had helped during her shifts patrolling the bridges.

Lancaster has also said in the past that Stewart is nervous about the risks involved in her police work, but is fully supportive of her role and knows that she wants to set a good example to their sons Alastair, 15, and Aiden, 10.

She told Hello! magazine: “I want to show my boys that it’s important to be whatever you want to be in life, and fulfil every part of yourself, even if it’s considered dangerous.

"At the end of the day, the police are the public and the public are the police. We’ve got the training and the powers to do our job and to protect life.”
