Pedro Pascal might be Reed Richards in Marvel’s “Fantastic Four ”movie
First 'Star Wars.' Then the MCU?
Pedro Pascal might be going from a galaxy far, far away to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Apparently not content after conquering nerd franchises like Game of Thrones, Star Wars, and The Last of Us, Pascal might be turning his attention to Marvel. The actor is reportedly in talks to play Reed Richards, a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic, in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie.
According to Deadline, the deal isn’t done yet, and Pascal has a busy upcoming schedule between season 2 of The Last of Us and Ridley Scott’s Gladiator sequel. But Pascal clearly has a good relationship with Marvel’s parent company Disney, especially considering that he stars in their flagship Star Wars series The Mandalorian.
Marvel did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Marvel first announced plans for a new Fantastic Four movie back in 2020, after Disney acquired the rights to the characters in the 2019 Fox deal. WandaVision’s Matt Shakman is directing the new film, which will bring Marvel’s famous quartet into the MCU.
Reed is the team’s brilliant and arrogant leader, who gains the ability to stretch his body after exposure to cosmic radiation, and he’s previously been played by Ioan Gruffud and Miles Teller. Most recently, John Krasinski appeared as an alternate universe version of Reed in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Earlier this year, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told EW that he expects the Fantastic Four to be a “big pillar of the MCU going forward, just the way they’ve been in the comics for 50 or 60 years.”
"Fantastic Four is the foundation for everything that came after in the comics," Feige said in February. "There's certainly been versions of it [on screen], but never inhabiting the storytelling of the MCU. And that's something that is really exciting for us."
Fantastic Four is scheduled to hit theaters May 2, 2025. As for who might be playing Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm? We’ll have to wait and see.
