A man holding a rifle created tension at a vigil in front of Wolfe City Police Department, in honour of Jonathan Price, on October 5.
Benjamin Diez filmed a video that showed the man with a weapon appearing at the door of the police department before being escorted from an angry crowd by protesters wearing Black Lives Matter T-shirts. Some of the protesters in the video can be seen restraining others from punching the man.
“Things got out of control after he showed up with his firearm. Several protesters tried to tranquillize the situation,” Diez wrote in a Twitter post that featured the video.
In another video filmed by Diez, the man is seen talking with police while a protester asks that the man be arrested.
Diez told Storyful that the police allowed the man to drive away after a long talk.
A local media outlet reported that Wolfe City Police Officer Shaun Lucas had been arrested and charged for the murder of Jonathan Price on October 5.
