Paxton alleges porn giant not following new Texas age verification law
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) is alleging that the pornography giant Aylo, which owns websites including Pornhub, is not following the state’s recently enacted age verification law.
Paxton has filed a lawsuit against Aylo for violating state law that requires pornographic websites to “use reasonable age verification measures to ensure those viewing their pornography are 18 years of age or older.”
The suit alleges Aylo’s websites “do not use reasonable age verification methods as required” by the law, and seeks to force the company into compliance.
“AYLO GLOBAL ENTERTAINMENT, INC.’s and AYLO USA, INCORPORATED’s publication or distribution of sexual material harmful to minors on the internet without implementing the reasonable age verification methods required by Chapter 129B harms, and continues to harm, Texas children and adolescents,” the suit says.
In a press release, Paxton said the Lone Star State has “a right to protect its children from the detrimental effects of pornographic content.”
“Instead of abiding by Texas law requiring purveyors of obscene sexual material to institute age verification systems, the company immediately presents minors who access their websites with pornographic content,” the release reads.
“I look forward to holding any company accountable that violates our age verification laws intended to prevent minors from being exposed to harmful, obscene material on the internet,” Paxton continued.
Paxton’s suit seeks to have Aylo pay up to $1,600,000 and an extra $10,000 per day, from mid-September of last year to the date of the filing of the suit and an extra $10,000 per day for every day after the filing of the suit.
A spokesperson for Aylo declined to comment on the suit.
