Pauly Shore Sued for Alleged Assault and Battery at His Comedy Club
Two plaintiffs allege Pauly Shore encouraged members of security at Los Angeles venue The Comedy Store to assault a patron during a Nov. 2022 incident
Pauly Shore is facing a lawsuit.
Shore, 55, is being sued in Los Angeles by two plaintiffs who allege assault and battery against security employees at The Comedy Store, which Shore owns, over an incident that took place in November 2022, according to legal documents obtained by PEOPLE.
Sean Kehoe and his daughter Kirra Lyn Potts allege a member of the club's security staff "violently grabbed and attacked" Kehoe and dragged the man. They also allege that Shore, whose family owns and operates the venue, was aware that members of the club's security staff planned the assault and that he "agreed with and encouraged" the employees in the incident.
A representative for Shore did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment Friday.

Kehoe and Potts are seeking compensation in damages over their past and future medical bills, loss of earnings and alleged physical and mental harm over the incident. Kehoe alleged in the lawsuit that the incident caused him "severe injuries," and both plaintiffs claim they have faced "mental and emotional distress" as a result of the incident.

The new lawsuit against Shore comes roughly one week after news broke that he will play fitness guru Richard Simmons in an upcoming feature-length film from Warner Bros. subsidiary The Wolper Organization, as The Hollywood Reporter and other outlets reported. Shore previously publicly shared interest in playing Simmons, 75, back in September 2023, when he wrote in response to a viral meme on Instagram, "I can definitely morph into this guy."
“We all need this biopic now more than ever,” Shore said in a Jan. 17 statement announcing the film. “Simmons represented mental health, getting people in shape and being his authentic silly self! Whenever he was on TV you could never take your eyes off of him and he brought such a joy to his appearances that represented nothing but a good time.”
Simmons himself, who has not been seen in public in nearly 10 years, shared in a rare message posted to his Facebook account that he has "never given my permission for this movie" to be made. “I no longer have a manager, and I no longer have a publicist. I just try to live a quiet life and be peaceful,” wrote in the post. “Thank you for all your love and support.”
Shore has already portrayed Simmons in a short film titled The Court Jester, which premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, last week.
