Paul/Tyson Fight Averaged 108 Million Viewers, Netflix Says — Taylor/Serrano Audience Sets Women’s Sports Record

Netflix is pulling no punches with its press release touting viewership numbers for this past Friday night’s fights.

The Nov. 15 bout between Jake “El Gallo” Paul aka The Problem Child and “Iron” Mike Tyson aka The Baddest Man on the Planet was watched by 65 million concurrent global streams at its peak, Netflix reports, which would make it the most-streamed sporting event ever.

Of that tally, 38 million concurrent streams came from the US.

The estimated, start-to-finish average minute audience (AMA) for Paul/Tyson, meanwhile, was 108 million live viewers globally, Netflix claims.

TVLine readers gave Paul’s win over Tyson a very rare average grade of “F.” As in fighters.

The Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano fight that precered Paul/Tyson averaged an estimated 74 million live viewers globally, and stands as the most-watched professional women’s sports event in U.S. history with an AMA of 47 million in the U.S.

Netflix reports that the night-long event is, no surprise, the streamer’s No. 1 title for the week, and has amassed 46.6 million views (total hours viewed/runtime) through Sunday night.

All told, the event was No. 1 (for the week of November 11-17) in 78 countries including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, India, Italy, Mexico, South Africa, the UK and the U.S., and in the Top 10 in 91 countries.
