Passengers Evacuate on Slides After Delta Flight Catches Fire
Passengers evacuated a Boeing 757 Delta Air Lines plane on slides after an engine failure during takeoff, the airline said Friday.
At least four people were injured in the dramatic incident. Three people were treated on-scene while one person was transported to the hospital, the Atlanta airport said in a statement.
“On takeoff, something went wrong and engine caught fire,” passenger Curtis James told CNN. “Had to emergency evacuate the plane.”
What do you do when your flight out of Atlanta has its engine catch fire on take off?

The airline did not confirm what caused the engine failure. Passengers were told to “duck down” and evacuate moments after the plane was preparing to take off, the Daily Mail reported.
Photos show passengers going down emergency evacuation slides from the plane and walking on the snowy tarmac at the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. The flight was heading to Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport.
“This was terrifying. I have no words,” an apparent passenger on the plane wrote on X, along with a clip of the evacuation.
Evacuees were driven from the runway back to the terminal. The airport said flights were delayed because of the Friday morning incident and inclement weather, but were “expected to be cleared shortly.”
The flight was carrying 201 passengers, along with two pilots and five flight attendants, Delta said.
