PAS was fine working with DAP before, so when did we turn pro-communist? Kit Siang asks Hadi
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 — Lim Kit Siang today accused PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang of giving Islam a bad name by accusing DAP of being pro-communist.
Pointing to the now defunct Pakatan Rakyat coalition, Lim said Hadi had no problem then when DAP, PAS and PKR all worked together in 2008, but changed his tune after they became political rivals.
"When did Hadi discover the DAP is communist or pro-communist? Hadi, Anwar and I signed a communiqué on the formation of Pakatan Rakyat forming a coalition PAS, PKR and DAP in 2008, but Pakatan Rakyat ended following the June 2015 PAS Muktamar when PAS leaders under Hadi cut ties with DAP," Lim said, referring to Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
"When did DAP become communist or pro-communist? Was it before 2008 and after 2015, or was DAP communist or pro-communist all along in the Pakatan Rakyat between 2008 to 2015?"
Lim also said that DAP had worked with PAS luminaries such as the late Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat and Datuk Fadzil Noor.
"Hadi is giving Islam a bad name by telling lies and untruths, acting like a chameleon and going against the mainstream of Islamic development," he said.
Lim further mocked Hadi by saying that the latter seems to know more than the police's Special Branch, which monitors communist movement in the country.
"I was detained twice under the Internal Security Act but neither the DAP leadership nor I was ever accused of being ’communist’ or ’pro-communist’.
"Has Hadi information about the DAP being ‘communist’ or ‘pro-communist’ that the Special Branch of Malaysia does not possess,” he added.
Yesterday, Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim chided Hadi for spewing defamatory remarks against his coalition, especially component party DAP.
Apart from the pro-communist allegation, Hadi also claimed that Anwar is a member of the Freemasons movement.
Hadi has stepped up his attacks against PH in the run-up to the election, going as far as to label PH of harbouring iblis, or the leader of devils in Islamic teachings.
