Paris police patrol banks of the River Seine

The sun was out and spring temperatures attracted crowds of Parisians along the Seine riverbanks.

French authorities imposed a lockdown two weeks ago for the Paris region, and a nightly curfew is into place, with people are limited in how far they can travel from their homes.

People are not allowed to gather in groups larger than six and are asked to keep a physical distance and wear a mask when outside. There is no restriction on how long they can be outside during the day.

Paris City Police Superintendent Caroline Ducatillion said their role was more to educate people rather than fine them in an effort to limit the spread of the virus.
