A Paris Olympian Is Selling Off Their Bronze Medal in an Auction — and Bids Are Up to $22,000
The medal was awarded in women's wrestling at the 2024 Games in Paris
A bronze medal from the 2024 Paris Olympics is up for sale.
The hardware was put up on RR Auction's website in the first week of the new year as part of the auction house's Olympic memorabilia.
According to the item's description, the medal was awarded in women's wrestling at the 2024 Paris Games last summer, though it is unclear which athlete won the medal.
As of Monday, Jan. 6, there are 16 bids on the bronze with the most recent one at $22,987. The auction will end on Jan. 16.
Like all medals awarded at the 2024 Games, the bronze was designed by the House of Chaumet/LVMH and manufactured by the Paris Mint.

On the front is an inlaid hexagonal piece of original 'puddle iron' from the Eiffel Tower with the Paris 2024 Games emblem engraved at the center. The opposite side features an engraving of the Greek goddess of Victory, Nike, over the Panathenaic Stadium, with "Jeux de la XXXIII Olympiade - Paris 2024" on the top.
The bottom of the medal features an inscription with the name of the women's wrestling event in French, and includes the original dark blue silk ribbon attached to the hardware.
The auction house's Olympic collection features medals from Games dating further back than 2024. Torches used during various opening ceremonies are also up for auction.

Also up for auction from the 2024 Games in Paris is a pair of oversized equestrian gold medal winner's ribbons, an official Olympic torch and a safety lantern.
