Paramount Miami Worldcenter Powers Giant Union Jack Flag to Celebrate Coronation of King Charles III

A giant electronic Union Jack flag was powered on the Paramount Miami Worldcenter skyscraper, ahead of the celebratory weekend that will follow the coronation of King Charles III on Saturday, May 6.

Aerial footage by Bryan Glazer of World Satellite Television News shows what he said was the world’s tallest electronic Union Jack flag, atop the 60-story building in downtown Miami, Florida.

Glazer told Storyful that the 700-foot tall, digital flag consisted of 13,400 light-emitting diodes embedded in 10,000 panes of high impact-resistant glass, connected by five miles of wires.

The red, white, and blue flag was a “glowing salute to the king and the people of the United Kingdom and the thousands of British expatriates now living in Florida,” said Daniel Kodsi, CEO of the firm that built the skyscraper.

The flag was powered on Friday and will illuminate the superstructure through Sunday. Credit: Bryan Glazer via Storyful
