Panavision’s Light Iron Names Tim Belcher Managing Director as Seth Hallen Departs to Pursue AI Workflow Opportunities

Panavision’s multi-city post-production company Light Iron has named industry vet Tim Belcher as managing director. He succeeds Seth Hallen, who is departing to pursue opportunities around use of AI in workflows.

Belcher, who will be based out of Light Iron’s Hollywood facility, arrives from ITV America, where he served as head of finishing operations and technology. He previously served as senior vice president of West Coast picture operations at the production company Picture Shop.

Belcher spent more than 19 years with Technicolor, including seven years as senior vice president of West Coast picture operations, overseeing episodic and theatrical work. Earlier, he held various roles at Rainmaker Digital, Digital Domain, Disney’s The Secret Lab and The Post Group.

“Light Iron’s services are a cornerstone of Panavision’s commitment to supporting filmmakers throughout production and post, and Tim brings extensive experience and knowledge that will further bolster the company’s expertise,” said Panavision president and CEO Kim Snyder in a released statement. “He joins Light Iron at an exciting time, as the company continues to advance its proprietary software development, which is pioneering new workflow developments.”

Said Belcher in a statement: “It’s always been Light Iron’s mission to push the bounds of what’s possible in post and provide filmmakers with tailored, streamlined workflows that fully empower their creative vision. As the company has grown, the team has remained nimble and maintains its innovative spirit. … I’m excited to work with everyone here at Light Iron and with the Panavision team to embrace the opportunities ahead of us.”

In addition to Los Angeles, Light Iron operates facilities in New York, Albuquerque, Atlanta, Chicago, New Orleans, Toronto and Vancouver, while also providing remote capabilities.

Its roster of colorists is led by Ian Vertovec and Corinne Bogdanowicz.
